Health Status of Honeybee Colonies Differing in Genetic Intra-Colonial Diversity

چکیده
Abstract Two different levels of diversity within a colony were compared for the prevalence pathogens and diseases. Lower genetic was obtained in colonies which queens inseminated with semen collected from drones originating single colony, while greater thirty colonies. Bees tested Varroa destructor infestation, microsporidia Vairimorpha spp. infection, acute bee paralysis virus (ABPV) deformed wing (DWV). Colonies workers more infested mites than genetically uniform infestation not found to be associated directly weakening after winter. The two experimental groups had similar number infected , viruses. Intensity infection did significantly affect overwintering DWV detected weakened during overwintering.

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
Genetic and biochemical diversity among isolates of Paenibacillus alvei cultured from Australian honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies.
Twenty-five unique CfoI-generated whole-cell DNA profiles were identified in a study of 30 Paenibacillus alvei isolates cultured from honey and diseased larvae collected from honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies in geographically diverse areas in Australia. The fingerprint patterns were highly variable and readily discernible from one another, which highlighted the potential of this method for tr...
متن کاملGenetic diversity within honeybee colonies increases signal production by waggle-dancing foragers.
Recent work has demonstrated considerable benefits of intracolonial genetic diversity for the productivity of honeybee colonies: single-patriline colonies have depressed foraging rates, smaller food stores and slower weight gain relative to multiple-patriline colonies. We explored whether differences in the use of foraging-related communication behaviour (waggle dances and shaking signals) unde...
متن کاملSeeley Fever in honeybee colonies
Honeybees, Apis spp., maintain elevated temperatures inside their nests to accelerate brood development and to facilitate defense against predators. We present an additional defensive function of elevating nest temperature: honeybees generate a broodcomb fever in response to colonial infection by the heat-sensitive pathogen Ascosphaera apis. This response occurs before larvae are killed, sugges...
متن کاملEvaluating Genetic Diversity of Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus, Linnaeus, 1758) Colonies in Iran
Whooper swans have two old and new populations, the new population has reported since 2007. The current study aimed to investigate the genetic structure of this species and compare their gene pool, especially the new population. For this purpose, 110 samples from Iran and four European countries were analyzed, using six microsatelite loci. In addition to the samples of the emerging population i...
